Dear brothers, sisters, and friends, peace be with you in the Lord!
Welcome to today's reading journey! Today, we are exploring Ephesians Chapter 6 together.
In our everyday lives—whether at home, work, or in our personal thoughts—we sometimes encounter fatigue, spiritual exhaustion, or unexpected tension. We often view people or environments as the source of our battles, forgetting that deeper spiritual realities are at play. How can we stand firm and live victoriously through these moments?
Let's pause and take a quiet moment. Bringing a receptive heart, let's step into today's scripture to see how Paul teaches us to honor God in our relationships and put on the full armor provided by Him.
Where are we today?
Ephesians Chapter 6 concludes Paul's letter with practical guidelines for households and the famous teaching on spiritual armor:
Relationships at Home and Work (Ephesians 6:1–9):
Children and Parents: Children are to obey their parents in the Lord and honor them (the first commandment with promise); fathers are warned not to provoke their children to wrath, but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
Servants and Masters (Workplace): Servants are to be obedient to their earthly masters with singleness of heart, as unto Christ; masters are called to do the same, knowing that their Master is in heaven, with whom there is no respect of persons.
The Whole Armour of God (Ephesians 6:10–20):
The Nature of Warfare: We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, powers, and spiritual wickedness in high places.
The Armour Elements: Stand with loins girt about with truth, having on the breastplate of righteousness, feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace, taking the shield of faith to quench fiery darts, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Praying Always: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, watching with perseverance for all saints and for Paul's boldness in preaching the gospel.
Final Greetings and Benediction (Ephesians 6:21–24): Paul sends Tychychus to comfort their hearts, concluding with blessings of peace, love, faith, and grace.
6 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
2 Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;
3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
5 Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;
6 Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;
7 With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:
8 Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.
9 And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
21 But that ye also may know my affairs, and how I do, Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, shall make known to you all things:
22 Whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose, that ye might know our affairs, and that he might comfort your hearts.
23 Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen.
“Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”
— Ephesians 6:11 (KJV)
“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.”
— Ephesians 6:17–18 (KJV)
Service Done as Unto the Lord: In honoring parents, raising children, or working diligently at our jobs, Paul urges us to do everything "as to the Lord, and not unto men." When our actions are anchored in Christ, we find genuine willingness, patience, and integrity.
Our Victory is Found in God's Provision: When facing anxiety, temptation, or discouragement, human strength alone is insufficient. God does not leave us defenseless—He provides truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and His holy Word. Activated through constant prayer, this divine armor equips us to stand resilient and firm.
A Question to Ponder:
Which piece of God's armor (e.g., the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, or the sword of the Word) do you feel you need most in your current season of life?
A Micro-Step Today:
Before stepping into your day or work, spend two minutes praying through the "Armour of God"—committing your mind, heart, and steps into His keeping.
